Beer for the bold
No thrills please — it's all about the beer. Beer packaging for artisanal beer makers Olimpica.
No gradients, no drop shadows and no cheeky illustrations. When beer is this good you don't need any unnecessary flourishes. Relative newcomer to the beer game, Olimpica got the talented bunch at Futura to kick start their branding with this striking typography led identity. Bold and timeless, the identity gives Olimpica a stamp of authority, a crucial trait for the 'new kids on the block.'
“Olimpica is a new brand that has come to conquer the palates of lovers of artisanal Mexican beer, and to position itself the world over as a symbol of quality and strength.”
And do they come in peace? Hell no. Fully embedded in the idea of conquering the world, the empowering identity stretches to include a flag which in turn helps the brand feel young, active and compelling. Plus flags are so hawt right now.
In a world of unnecessary detailing, this typographic approach cuts through the rabble and sets it apart. Condensed black type on a good quality white stock is a design classic and, by its nature the identity easily adapts to successfully work across bottles, kegs, clothing and more. Sure it is simple but it's a winner in our eyes. I only hope Olimpica sent a few over to the design team so they may crack open a cold one and celebrate a job well done.
